Wieght Loss Myths

When it comes to dieting fads, most of them are based on myths. This basis on dieting helps them to make the money they make. False data masquerading as statistics and data appear to corroborate the claims these myths make which sounds so believable. That is why many individuals get in trouble while following these myths. But what we need to understand are some of these basic facts; one of which includes understanding that no two persons are same in their physiology. That is why not all diet plans work for everybody equally even if they are real diets.

Here are just a few of these myths:

• #1 Myth: Diets with low carbs helps in taking pounds off – This is one of the most believed myths in dieting world. But the reality is that these pounds come off with a great price. Following them is also not an easy task. You will feel miserable while keeping their strict instructions that are quite hard. Carbs are needed by your body. When you don’t get them in right amount, you won’t sleep well, get headaches and feel irritated at the world! The weight loss will be possible; but you will gain those as you stop it.

• #2 Myth: The best diet option is a low fat diet – Another myth which results in your weight gain instead of losing it because foods low in fat are mostly higher in calories. On top of that, fat is one requirement for your body to function properly. You need fat to some degree in your diet. But whether low fat diet supplies them or not is open to discussion.

• #3 Myth: Starving diets really work great – A dangerous myth that can have internally damaging or even fatal consequences. You need food with vitamins and minerals in right proportion everyday to function properly. Starvation diets advise you eat very little and drink lots of liquids. So don’t fall for such diets as they are definitely “Diets that can be termed crazy and don’t work”.

• #4 Myth: The best diets are the pre-packaged diet plans – Trying one those diets that assume that “one size fits all” doesn’t work all the time because we don’t have the same physiology. That is why your friend may have lost 10 pounds with those costly diet programs, but there is no guarantee that you will have the same result. You may get that with much cheaper alternatives!

• #5 Myth: Follow Celebrities – There are many celebrities who undergo the craziest and the most unhealthy diet plans to lose weight before casting a new movie part. They set very bad examples for the rest of us as these diets are very harmful to your body in the long run.

Stop believing these myths which most fad diets are based that are doomed to fail. Also there is a reason why these diets are termed as “fad diets”; when people see that they don’t work, they discard it. Had the diets worked, people wouldn’t have termed them as “fad” diets! If you are really interested in dieting, then follow those that really work and don’t have the term “fad” in front of them like Strip That Fat diet. No matter what claims any diet program you read about has, the only real way to lose weight in a healthy manner is too excercise, eat healthy foods, and pay very close attention to your snacking/extra calories.

You may think that the idea of weight loss with foods is bizarre because it is the food that makes us gain weight. However, only “bad” or high calorie highly fatty foods cause weight gain. Everyone needs certain nutrients to survive and stay healthy, so we do need some calories. Our health, and whether we are overweight or not, is largely determined by the quality of the foods we eat as well as the amount of food versus the amount that is truely needed for your activity level.

When we choose our foods well, we have less room for unhealthy foods that cause us to gain weight. The best example, although not technically a food at all is water. We need water to stay alive, simply put. But water also helps your metabolism run more smoothly. It also helps to control your appetite. In other words, you’ll be less hungry and not eat as much if you drink more water. This only means water, not other beverages so as sodas. We can call water a weight loss food for this reason!

One of the main health categories of nutritional foods to eat, that help to curb our appetites are fruits and vegetables. Fruit, however, is very high in natural sugars depending on the specific fruit, so it should be eaten in limited quantities, preferably at breakfast. If you eat food with a high quality protein along with a salad for lunch, you’ll be giving yourself good nutritional value and enough fat to run on. Green vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, chard, green beans, asparagus and kale are good to eat every day as well.

Recent studies also show that green tea is effective for helping you burn calories as well as many othe
